Designer Voice

In the summer 1985, the birth of my second child gave me a chance to start my career as a baby wear designer. I had a career till then with a textile and ladies' apparel manufacturer. At first, I turned part of my home into and atelier with six industrial sewing machines, and I designed, produced and sold children's inner and lingerie. It was after the birth to my third child that I decided to start-up a baby's outwear brand.
PATACHOU was born

As I was originally from the field of textile design, most of the fabrics I used were made original. It was a natural idea for me, but was unthinkable and daring within the baby-wear industry which was then much smaller in scale.

At the time, most baby manufacturers used "baby colors", such as pink, blue and yellow, and seldom saw neutral tints which you find in PATACHOU. PATACHOU's colors have not changed since then and have become the uniqueness of this brand. Moreover, I have since then been insisting on the shape and silhouette of the clothing. Baby wear then were thought to be "okay even if not perfect". I have always insisted on clothing that is needlessly loose and yet comfortable.

PATACHOU started with the concept, "Making everyday wear more fashionable". More than 10 years have passed yet PATACHOU keeps evolving with the time.

PATACHOU was started by one person. Now, PATACHOU is carefully made by the staffs who love the label.
